In the Haarlemmerstraat you’ll find Café Nieuw Amsterdam. A modern bistro with a surprising menu and good wines – all within the walls of the historic West-Indisch Huis. In our cozy restaurant, or courtyard, you can come seven days a week for brunch, lunch, drinks, or an elaborate dinner. Together with our friendly team, we ensure that our guests have a wonderful evening and love to come back to us.
About the role
As a sous-chef, you are the right hand of the chef: an important role in our beautiful kitchen. You work independently but also together with our experienced and ambitious team. We prepare high-quality (signature) dishes and regularly change the menu.

This is who you are
- You have at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- You are creative, quality-oriented, skilled, and innovative.
- You are stress-resistant and have a true ‘hands-on’ mentality.
- You have good communication skills and a good command of the Dutch and English languages.
- You live in (the vicinity of) Amsterdam.
- You are familiar with HACCP principles; possession of a Social Hygiene Diploma is a plus.
